HOW TO GET THERE

By car or bus

Heinfels can be reached from the east and south via the Puster Valley and the B100.

Parking on the north side (access via Tessenberger Landesstraße L325), then via the designated footpaths.
Note: The public car park is managed by the municipality of Heinfels and is subject to a charge (0.50 EUR/h).

By train

The new "Heinfels" stop is only 0.5 km from the castle and is connected to the regional trains from San Candido and Lienz in East Tyrol. From there the castle is reachable in about 15 minutes.

By bus

Two bus stops are located directly at the foot of the castle. Coming from South Tyrol, we recommend the bus stop "Panzendorf, Abzweigung Villgraten". Coming from Lienz, we recommend the bus stop "Panzendorf, Gemeindeamt Heinfels".

By Bicycle (MTB, E-Bike)

From the Drava Cycle Route coming from Lienz or San Candido (Innichen), turn north at the level of the village centre. Cross the B100 federal road, then continue to the castle either from the south or north side. Access is via paved side roads; the upper section is a gravel road (approx. 1–1.5 km).

Bicycle parking is available in front of the main gate. Please note: there are no bicycle parking facilities inside the castle grounds.

Footpath to the castle

Safe and signposted paths lead to the castle (approx. 500m, walking time approx. 10 minutes, 50m)
